Featured Stay: The Dwell Hotel

Every summer I venture from Nashville to Chattanooga, Tennessee to see the summer sunflower field at Smith Berry Farms mid-July. Instead of driving the 2 hours home that evening this year, I decided to explore the night life and stay the night with The Dwell Hotel. Here is peak inside the curtain behind this hidden gem stay.

The Dwell Hotel is in the heart of Downtown Chattanooga, where “lively meets luxury, and high class meets high comfort”. As soon as valet hand delivers your luggage at the front desk, check in with the desk clerk who will take you to your room. I loved that they had kept the character of the building, creaking floor boards and all. Scale the large foyer stairs or take the retro elevator to the second or third floors.

Their 16 rooms are decked out with retro, reclaimed furnishings and recently remodeled during the pandemic closures. Built in the civil war, this 1800’s stone building used to serve as the stone fort guarding the city of Chattanooga. It was transformed into a The Colonial Hotel in 1909 by German architect, L.A. Hirtzfield. The hotel has changed owners and names a few times, and is now the midcentury modern interpretation of the Dwell today.

I stayed in the Flamingo King Suite, room 28. I loved the wallpaper, luxury toiletries, and deep bath tub. I slept great on the comfiest hotel bed I have ever stayed in. Other amenities include access to their pool and fitness center “social club” down the road, called Common House. Just ask the front desk clerk to get you a day pass. All complimentary with your stay.

Looking for things do in Chattanooga, don’t worry about going far. Head downstairs for happy hour! The lobby serves up creative craft cocktails at Matilda Midnight and unforgettable events in the Solarium. The neighborhood is super walkable to popular restaurants and bars, including the authentic Italian restaurant, Alleia, and the industry favorite bar, The Boneyard.

If you are planning a trip to Chattanooga Tennessee, make sure to book an overnight stay at this fabulous spot. This blog post is in collaboration with the hotel, however I always give my honest opinion. And it is 10/10 worth a try, away from the kiddos and hustle of Nashville.
